About the Authors

Art Wolfe is one of the most celebrated and highly published nature photographers of our time. His honors include a 2000 Alfred Eisenstaedt Award for Magazine Photography and the 1998 Nature Photographer of the Year Award from his peers. His books include Water, Rainforests of the World, Tribes, Migrations and Light on the Land.


Jane Goodall has conducted the longest continuous field research ever on a single species – forty years with the chimpanzees of Tanzania. Her work has revolutionized the way we view our fellow primates. She established the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 to promote conservation and environmental education. Her books include In the Shadow of Man, The Chimpanzees of Gombe, Though a Window, Reason for Hope and Africa in My Blood.


Michelle Gilders is a biological consultant, photographer, and author. She is a native of England and has a Masters degree from New College, Oxford University. She has worked for BP Exploration in Alaska. Her books include Reflections of a Whale-Watcher, Crossing Alaska, Water, The Nature of Great Apes, and Primal Forces.
